Arunima Sinha is an inspiration and a true role model. Despite losing one leg in an accident, she has achieved the impossible dream of climbing seven challenging mountain peaks!
She's the world's first disabled woman to scale Mount Everest, Mount Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Mount Elbrus (Russia), Mount Kosciuszko (Australia), Mount Aconcagua (South America), Mount Denali (North America), and Mount Vinson (Antarctica). She is also a seven-time Indian volleyball player.
Arunima Sinha was born in Uttar Pradesh, India. Her family included her mother, who worked as a health department supervisor, her father in the Indian Army, an elder sister, and a younger brother. Unfortunately, her father passed away, leaving her mother alone to care for the family. Despite this, Arunima excelled in sports, particularly football and volleyball. She even became a national volleyball player and dreamed of joining the paramilitary forces.
Tragically, while travelling to Delhi to pursue this dream, Arunima was involved in a serious accident. She was pushed off a running train by robbers, who snatched her bag, and was severely injured. A train from the opposite side ran over her leg, leading to its amputation. She was then taken to the hospital by locals. Despite this difficult event, Arunima has achieved great success as a mountaineer and athlete.
