Saahas Zero Waste

An end-to-end waste management solution

Problem

Waste is a significant issue in India. The increasing daily waste couldn't be stored solely in landfills with a growing population.
With a growing population, daily trash will rise. Landfills can only hold so much rubbish, so adding more landfills won't help.

Solution

Saahas uses a decentralised waste management model that allows biogas and compost to be converted into a valuable byproduct. In addition to collecting and recycling common types of trash, such as plastic and paper, the programme prioritises the disposal of biological garbage and unwanted electronics. It claims to have 30 recycling centres, each measuring 2,500 square feet, with 80 staff members.

Social Impact

  • Saahas's project on social inclusion intends to solve waste management problems by giving people clear goals and reward systems to get them to pick up trash. Their social inclusion project aims to reduce the exploitation of people in India's waste management sector. It also fits in with the international Sustainable Development Goals and ensures that people have safe and dignified jobs.
  •  ESG frameworks and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) help Saahas Waste Management keep a close eye on the social and environmental impacts (Environmental, Social Governance).
  • Saahas Waste Management is helping to bring people, nature, and technology together to get the most out of the resources that can be recovered. They think that moving waste away from landfills is not enough. We need to switch to processes allowing for a circular and self-renewing economy.
