Waste is a significant issue in India. The increasing daily waste couldn't be stored solely in landfills with a growing population.
With a growing population, daily trash will rise. Landfills can only hold so much rubbish, so adding more landfills won't help.
Saahas uses a decentralised waste management model that allows biogas and compost to be converted into a valuable byproduct. In addition to collecting and recycling common types of trash, such as plastic and paper, the programme prioritises the disposal of biological garbage and unwanted electronics. It claims to have 30 recycling centres, each measuring 2,500 square feet, with 80 staff members.
