India has more than half a million amputees, with tens of thousands added to the amputee population every year. Most of them don’t have access to advanced AI-enabled prosthetic devices and so the need of the time is to create an enabling environment for Assistive Tech (AT) devices that improve the quality of life of People with Disabilities (PwD), enhance their productivity, and catalyze their integration into the mainstream.
Robo Bionics started with the objective of improving lives by helping amputees access advanced prosthetic devices. Most amputees in India cannot afford advanced prosthetics. And even if they would procure one, rarely were they able to improve their quality of life.
Robo Bionics engineered and produced Grippy, an easy-to-use interactive artificial arm with greater functionalities like the sense of touch, various grips (pinch, point, etc.), and a better customised fit through premium sockets. Amputees can now use this prosthetic hand for quick and easy training.
Grippy is helping millions of amputees live their lives proudly and happily. One can only imagine the cascading effect such a move would have on the inclusion of PwDs into the workforce, reducing the stigma around disability, and promoting independent living.
