Problem

Wet waste, which is composed of organic matter is a major contributor to methane emissions from Landfills. Landfills are the largest human related source of methane emissions globally. According to United Nations environment program, landfills are responsible for 34% of methane emissions. High levels of methane has the potential to reduce the amount of oxygen breathed from the air resulting in vision problems, memory loss, nausea, facial flushing and mood changes among human beings. To reduce the impact of wet waste on the environment and negative effects of methane, it is important to implement proper waste management.

Solution

Carbon Masters has pioneered the conversion of food and agri-waste to produce eco-friendly bio-CNG which has the potential to displace LPG/diesel in cooking, heating and transport thereby reducing fossil fuel consumption. While the other product - organic fertilizer aims to improve soil health by adding nutrients, improving crop yields, and environment friendly with low risk of contamination.

Social Impact

  • 20,000 tonnes of CO2 saved per year through GHG mitigation.
  • 60,000 commercial LPG cylinders are displaced per year.
  • 50+ green jobs are created every year.
  • 9 out of 17 SDGs were impacted. Which Includes reducing poverty, ensuring good health, well-being, and gender equality, and contributing to economic growth, among other things.
